ABOUT THIS TOOL
Reduce the size of photos and screenshots with adjustable quality and dimensions. Compare the results, then download your compressed images.
How it works
Add your images. Drop your photos or screenshots into the compressor. You can process several images together.
Adjust the settings. Choose quality, an optional maximum dimension, and Keep, JPG or WebP output. Review the reported savings as the files finish.
Save your files. Download each result or save the batch as a ZIP. Check important details such as small text before replacing an original.
Formats and useful details
Input
JPG, PNG and WebP, plus HEIC/HEIF, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG where decoding is available.
Output
JPG, PNG or WebP. Keep preserves these three formats; other inputs are converted to a supported output.
Good to know
PNG quality below 100% reduces its color palette. Smaller dimensions can reduce file size further. Savings vary with the source; no fixed output size or percentage is guaranteed.
Processed on your device
Your selected files are processed on your device by the browser-based converter. Available formats and conversion speed depend on your browser, the file’s encoding, and your device. Large files may require more memory.
Frequently asked questions
Does compressing an image reduce its quality?
It can. JPG and WebP use the selected quality setting, while PNG below 100% reduces the number of colors. Inspect the result and use a higher setting if fine detail or gradients change too much.
Why did the Keep option change my image format?
Keep retains JPG, PNG and WebP. HEIC, AVIF and TIFF become JPG; GIF, BMP and SVG become PNG. The compressor cannot export every input format.
Can I compress an image to an exact number of kilobytes?
There is no target-file-size control. Lower the quality or maximum dimension, then check the output size. Already optimized images may show little or no reduction.
